Use this mortgage calculator to make estimating your monthly mortgage payment easy. Just enter the mortgage amount, interest rate and term. See how much house you can afford! Don't forget. This is Just Principal and Interest. You must account for taxes and insurance as well. An estimate of taxes can be obtained from the county property appraiser websites.

Would you rather use an app for your phone? I suggest Karl's Mortgage Calculator. Make sure you take the time to input the "expenses" which is your taxes and insurance, to get a complete picture. It will give you the payment # which is your principal and interest, then a "total" number which should be your principal, interest, taxes, and insurance. Taxes can be estimated using the property address and the appraiser websites above. Insurance will be homeowners insurance plus any Mortgage insurance if you're downpayment is less than 20% and using and FHA or Conventional loan. If you want to wag the insurance numbers, I'd say guestimate $300 for homeowners insurance and $100 pmi if downpayment will be less than 20% or $0 if VA loan. Property Taxes are highly dependent on the county you live in, the type and age of house, and if property owner is currently getting deductions on their property taxes. When look up the property on the appraiser site, go to “estimate taxes” for that property and input the expected purchase price.
